Early Years is a vibrant and stimulating learning environment where learning is all around you! Early Years provides the stepping stones to encourage and enthuse you for the rest of your school life.

We believe in the importance of children following their own interests and leading their own learning through accessing our indoor and outdoor environment. Our highly skilled staff, observe and identify key moments that take place as children access our high quality provision.

During your time in Early Years you will access some fantastic learning opportunities to make your time unforgettable. Educational visits, Nativity performance, Easter parade, Forest school Friday’s, weekly enhancements in class as well as an exciting curriculum planned around children’s interests to engage and inspire.

We look forward to an exciting year ahead.

Nursery Overview

At St Alban's our aim is to make your first experience of school a memorable one. Each day will be filled with fun and engaging learning opportunities. You will have the opportunity to explore and learn through play indoors and out. We provide learning opportunities through play based activities with meaningful interactions with key adults whilst sharing books, singing songs and rhymes, and exploring the world around us. Every Friday we go down to forest school, where we explore the environment, local wildlife, build houses for the 3 little pigs and go on bug hunts. Don’t forget your wellies and waterproofs!

Reception Overview

Reception at St Alban’s is all about making friends, having fun and learning lots of new skills whilst getting used to the routines and rules in primary school. You will take part in phonics, literacy and numeracy lessons every day to help you become a confident, independent learner and there is lots of time to explore your own interests during child initiated time. We even have themed role play and small world areas where you can play imaginatively, and a fantastic creative area where you can build, draw and craft! In Reception, we are always busy: we learn both indoors and outdoors, we play games, complete challenges, solve problems and explore our world, asking questions and finding the answers throughout.  You will even have the chance to help Little Red Riding Hood at Moseley Old Hall on a school visit and meet Farmer Ray at Lower Drayton.  One amazing thing you will never forget in Reception is that every week we visit forest school, even in the rain and the snow, so don’t forget your waterproofs and wellies.
