DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY
In Design and Technology, St Alban’s provides our children with the opportunities to explore and evaluate existing products that are relevant to them. Using creativity and imagination, pupils then design and make products based on their own evaluations that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts.
Our exciting and innovative curriculum enables them to acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens.
Design and Make projects
Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, as well as exploration of significant designers, our children develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
Our Design and Make projects enable children to evaluate and problem solve throughout each stage of their learning. Each year group will refine their skills of building structures, working with fabric and cooking dishes safely and hygienically. Children will then be able to build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users.
