After School Clubs
St Alban’s C of E Academy is part of the Wolverhampton Children’s University, a scheme for children offering children aged 5-14 an exciting and innovative programme of high quality learning opportunities outside school hours, with a focus on rewarding participation, raising aspirations and encouraging engagement with learning. Children are provided with passports and each time they attend an extra-curricular club the time they have spent is logged onto their passport. When children have achieved 30 hours they are presented with a bronze certificate to recognise their participation and their achievement; after 60 hours, a silver certificate; and when children have achieved 100 hours they receive a gold award and they will graduate.
Due to the current climate and government guidance around class bubbles, we are unfortunately unable to mix year groups within after school clubs, like we normally do, hence why clubs are only offered to individual year groups as outlined below.
With this in mind, from September 2020, we are running a reduced number of extracurricular clubs. These will take place after school. The table below outlines the activities that will be taking place, when they will happen and which adult in school will be leading them. We have ensured there is something for every year group in school and all clubs are free of charge.
With children having missed a considerable amount of time, we thought it was important that we also offered catch up booster clubs as well as extracurricular activities. Catch up boosters will consist of maths, reading and writing and will be based on children’s knowledge outlined by the class teachers and will be delivered in a fun way.
