CHRISTIAN DISTINCTIVNESS

Our Christian distinctiveness is reflected within our school vision 'Learning, Growing and Exploring together with God'.

SIAMS

As St Alban's is a Church School, all Church of England dioceses and the Methodist Church use the Church of England Education Office's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005.  The SIAMS Evaluation Schedule sets out the expectations for the conduct of the Statutory Inspection of Anglican, Methodist and ecumenical Schools under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005.

More detailed information about the inspection can be viewed here on the Church of England website.

Our Christian distinctiveness is reflected within our school vision of, “ We empower each child to learn enthusiastically, grow independently and explore inquisitively to fulfil their God given potential.”

Our Christian values are embedded throughout all aspects of school life and they underpin our Christian distinctiveness here at St Albans C of E Academy:

Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural provision at St Alban's

At St Alban's, we take a thoughtful and considerate approach to SMSC across our curriculum and our daily school life, to promote children's physical and mental wellbeing. Our Christian Values, and the British Values, are woven throughout the range of opportunities available to children to ensure that children have the chance to thrive and become positive, thoughtful citizens of the school community, the local community and the wider world.

Our school song

St Alban's Church

St Alban’s is at the heart of the Ashmore Park estate. The church aims to be a community-focused, family church which has Jesus at the centre, open to the renewing work of the Holy Spirit and taking the Bible seriously, working out carefully how it impacts our lives today.  This shapes all that the church does – from children's and young people's groups, to our evangelism and outreach, to our care and concern for our community, and our involvement at St Alban's C of E Academy.  As a school, we have exceptionally strong and proud links to our local Church of St. Alban's, who are part of the Wednesfield Ministry and we encourage all our children to embrace their faith.

Worship in our school

Collective Worship at St Alban's is an integral part of every school day. It is a time where we come together, where we collaborate and where we foster a sense of community. Our worship celebrates difference and encourages respect and dignity. Our Collective Worship engages creatively with the school’s Christian values and associated British values showing respect for and giving dignity to all wherever they may be on their spiritual journey. Within our school hall, we have a prayer box where children's own prayers can be valued and shared with the rest of the school in collective worship.

  • Monday - Bible story linked to Christian Values, significant leaders in our world

  • Tuesday - Vicar led worship - bible story linked to Christian Values and Anglican Church

  • Wednesday - Class worship - Values for Life - picture news - worldviews celebration

  • Thursday - Song of Praise

  • Friday - Celebration worship - Thanks for achievement and successes.

As Vicar of St Alban's Church, Ashmore Park, I am delighted to have such a caring and friendly school linked to our church. Each week I look forward to coming and sharing worship with the St Alban's school community. The children engage so enthusiastically, and I know they value this opportunity to pause and reflect on life from a spiritual perspective.

Jesus welcomed and valued children, and it is my hope that every child at St Alban's School will experience that same sense of being welcomed and valued, whatever their background.

Children are very important to us at St Alban's Church, and we recently appointed Sam Crosby, herself a school parent at St Alban's School as our Children and Families Worker. It is a privilege to come into school with Sam to share Collective Worship with the children and staff each week, and a joy to welcome the whole school into church for special services at Christmas and Easter.

We also work with the school leadership to develop and maintain a distinctive Christian ethos that underpins not just the teaching of RE but the whole way in which the school works together.

If you would like to talk to us about any aspect of the life of the school, or about how to help your children fulfil their God-given potential, don't hesitate to get in touch.
