HOMEWORK

At St Alban’s C of E Academy we provide all children with homework to enhance their learning. Our aims are to develop a partnership with parents and carers through involving them actively in children’s learning and to make pupils independent learners. The regular use of homework is one way in which pupils can be helped to achieve this.

Our homework approach is designed to:-

  • Extend and develop the work done in school to those hours the children spend out of school.

  • Give parents opportunities to become partners in their children’s learning

  • Encourage children to develop organisational skills and self- discipline and to take charge of their own learning

  • Develop children’s independent learning skills and encourage them to take charge of their own learning

  • Personalise learning and develop children’s self-motivation and self-confidence

Children also thoroughly enjoy taking part in projects across the year where they are encouraged to research and apply their prior learning to showcase their skills and understanding.
